About the project: What is Jardin de Jewelz?

AN ARTIST’S STATEMENT… of sorts

Jardin de Jewelz began as a collaboration by two Bay Area artists as a casual friendship unfolded–nearly eight years after their first meeting. At the core of it: appreciation of creativity, of their individual artistic practices, their funny husbands, kids and/or pets, and the acknowledgement of every day of what we have and who we are in our moments on this planet.

Jardin de Jewelz first saw light as a street art project in San Francisco (ongoing), inspired by the concept of the Existential Trinity of individual freedom, responsibility, and the search for meaning. It is inspired by Patricia’s #LifeIsNow sentiment, and it is about making one’s life and surroundings the best–and most joyful–they can be.

Jardin de Jewelz: indoors is the gallery show/community participation aspect of a street art collaboration between Bay Area artists Jewelz Tucker and Patricia Wren. Watching how Jardin de Jewelz was taking shape on the streets, artist David Reposar invited them to bring their work “indoors” to his space at Venus & Victory as part of the SF First Thursday Art Walk in Lower Polk & Tenderloin. Both artists will be present and invite visitors to paste a piece on the painted canvas/collage to honor someone they love struggling in the here and now. Postcards, hand bound sketchbooks, tote bags and pompom flowers will be available for purchase and net proceeds will be donated to Project Purple, the organization bringing awareness to pancreatic cancer

Flowers for everyone.

Additionally, an entirely different second canvas will appear at 20 Cosmo Place the same evening. Also participatory, but outdoors.
