Non-Archival Studio

Patricia Currie Wren is a multidisciplinary artist of Scottish-descent working in San Francisco, California.

Elements of decay and imperfection are thematic throughout Patti’s work and in this way, she has named her non-precious creative practice Non-Archival Studio.

Artist Bio

Patti grew up in New Jersey in the post-punk 80s and received her B.A. in Art History and English Literature at Rutgers University. She participated in workshops on street photography and artist books at the Tate Modern while living in London from 2002-2006.

Since moving to California, Patti has studied photography, pottery, and paper-related disciplines, such as papermaking, printmaking, collage, and book arts. In addition to working with wonderful practitioners and organizations within the Bay Area, such as Kala Art Institute, SOMArts with Katie Gilmartin, City College of San Francisco, and with international crafts and arts practitioners at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, SF Center for the Book, Center for Book Arts (NYC), Penland School of Craft, and the Peninsula School of Art.

In early 2023, Patti closed her first solo show, NON-ARCHIVAL, at Venus & Victory Studio gallery in San Francisco. She participated in the 2023 Society of Scottish Artists’ 30×30 Online Exhibition, of which she is a member through her Glaswegian heritage. In winter 2024, Patti’s work will appear in Hyde Park tube station of the London Underground and in SILVERSTRUCK!, a multi-day event celebrating the life and art of Silver Lucy, along with six other California artists (date to be announced).

Patti is a member of the Society of Scottish Artists and former show-runner for the SF Correspondence Co-op and participates in international mail art exchanges through the International Union of Mail Artists. She volunteers at SF Center for the Book and the SF SPCA.
