Jardin de Jewelz: Artist Bios

Jardin de Jewelz: About the Artists

Jewelz Tucker is a Thai-American artist that has found moments of inspiration in nature and channels them into meditative practices of photography and detailed, meticulous line drawings. Self-taught, Jewelz has maintained her creative practice for decades while raising her four children in the Bay Area with husband, Matt.

In the past few years Jewelz’s artistic practice has taken a back seat to her battle with pancreatic cancer, now in stage four; exhaustion has taken a space once held for friendships, activities, and art. But one of the many hearts of her family home is their garden, which she continues to capture with her photography. Treating it like her own palette, Jewelz changes the flowers that come in every year, giving a new feel to the flourish each spring. Every flower featured in the collaborative work of Jardin de Jewelz, comes from Jewelz’s garden and is shared her with her heart and her lens.

Patricia Wren would spent hours making watercolor and ink paintings on her bedroom floor surrounded by piles of magazines and library books (she had subscriptions to the Village Voice and Interview magazine in high school); she grew up in New Jersey in the post-punk 80s and eventually received her B.A. in Art History and English Literature.

No art school here, but art education and a creative practice has always been a part of her life, and recently more a focus. Wren participated in workshops on street photography and artist books at the Tate Modern while living in London 2002 – 2006 and since moving to San Francisco almost twenty years ago, has studied photography, collage, pottery, printmaking, and other paper-related disciplines in Scotland, Maine, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and in many beloved Bay Area locations. She works under a studio name of NonArchival, to emphasize the “absolutely not fine art” aspect of her work.
